Banjo workshop – Thierry Schoysman

Thierry Schoysman (1966) started playin banjo at age 13. He’s played with the likes of banjo innovator Bill Keith, Eugene O’Brien and most recently, Signe Borch. In 1991, Thierry joined and still plays with Rawhide, one of Europe’s oldest and most renowned/innovative bluegrass bands.

When Thierry was 15, he attended a banjo workshop with banjo innovator Bill Keith. This opened his musical eyes and ears. Bill and Thierry would become close friends for the next 30+ years as they would meet frequently on both sides of the Atlantic and never missed a chance to play twin banjos.

On the mandolin, Thierry also teamed up with Eugene O’Brien to form The Sons of Navarone in 2001. They won the La Roche band competition in 2012 and the Audience popularity award at EWOB 2016.

While still active with these two bands, Thierry and Signe Borch from Denmark created a bluegrass duo called Table for Two. These bands have played all over Europe.
